Mahoning County, OH – A grand jury in Mahoning County has indicted 36-year-old Shanshan Zhang following a January 2025 raid at a Canfield business suspected of operating as a front for prostitution.
Zhang was arrested after authorities from the Canfield Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force conducted a search at Harmony Foot Spa, located in the 400 block of West Main Street. The business had reportedly only been open for about one week before it was raided on January 21.
According to court records, Zhang now faces multiple charges, including a fourth-degree felony for promoting prostitution, a fifth-degree felony for possession of criminal tools, and a third-degree misdemeanor for soliciting.
Authorities stated that Zhang offered sex in exchange for money to an undercover officer posing as a client during the operation. She was arrested at the scene and booked into the Mahoning County Jail on the same day.
With the grand jury indictment, the case now proceeds to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. A summons and a copy of the indictment have been issued to the Mahoning County Sheriff to advance legal proceedings.
In Ohio, promoting prostitution carries a potential prison sentence of 6 to 18 months, while possession of criminal tools may result in up to 12 months in prison. The misdemeanor charge of soliciting may carry additional fines or short-term jail time.
Authorities continue to investigate whether other individuals or businesses are involved in related illegal activity.
