A thief attempted to break open an ATM in Odhav using a screwdriver but failed in his efforts. The Odhav police, acting swiftly on CCTV footage, registered a case and arrested the accused within hours.

The incident occurred at a UCO Bank ATM kiosk located next to the branch on Ring Road. On the morning of May 2, Viral Parikh, the bank manager, noticed the ATM room door was open when he arrived at work. Upon entering, he found that the ATM machine had been tampered with, with the electronic keypad and lower compartment lid damaged. Fortunately, the cash inside the machine remained untouched.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, the police saw an unknown individual attempting to access the ATM. Viral Parikh promptly filed a complaint at the Odhav police station, which led to the identification and arrest of Shankararam Chaudhary from Anjana Char Rasta.

When questioned, Chaudhary initially lied, claiming he was only trying to retrieve his ATM card that had gotten stuck. However, police investigations later revealed that his intent was to vandalize the ATM for fun.

Further investigation is ongoing as the police continue to look into the case.
