The Kozhikode Rural Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a large-scale financial fraud in which a family was allegedly cheated under the guise of spiritual healing.

The arrested accused have been identified as P.C.H. Shamsuddeen and Kannanthodi Muhammed Basheer, both natives of Malappuram district, and P. Rafeeq of Nadapuram. The trio was taken into custody on Saturday, November 29.

According to police officials, the accused allegedly extorted nearly Rs70 lakh from a resident of Thottilpalam, promising spiritual remedies to cure the complainant’s wife. The fraud reportedly took place over a prolonged period, during which the victim was repeatedly persuaded to make payments.

The arrests followed a detailed complaint filed by A.K. Muhammed Adil, who had been pursuing the case for several months. Police are now investigating the financial trail and examining whether the accused were involved in similar scams elsewhere.
