In a decisive operation, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in Vadodara arrested three members of a notorious burglary gang who were involved in a series of house break-ins and vehicle thefts across the city over the past two months.
The breakthrough came when a patrolling team received information about suspicious individuals loitering on Vishwamitri Road. Upon reaching the scene, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended. A search led to the recovery of gold jewellery, burglary tools, and incriminating evidence.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Shamsher Sikligar – has 19 prior offences across multiple city police stations
Bacchusingh Sikligar – linked to 10 burglary and vehicle theft cases
Mahendrasingh Sikligar – involved in four burglary cases
The trio confessed to their involvement in at least five recent offences, using stolen motorcycles to scout homes and execute their crimes, primarily during nighttime hours.
Police have recovered:
Gold ornaments worth Rs3.65 lakh
Cash of Rs1.65 lakh
Wristwatches valued at Rs15,000
Several stolen motorcycles
Their crimes were committed in the Gorwa, Gotri, Manjalpur, and Raopura areas of Vadodara.
Authorities confirmed the gang’s method involved breaking into locked homes by forcing open doors, and using two-wheelers for easy escape and reconnaissance. Investigations are ongoing to link them to additional cases.
The DCB has urged residents to report any suspicious activity and secure their homes with adequate surveillance and locks.
