In a chilling domestic crime in Bhavnagar, Shailesh Khambhala, an Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), was arrested for murdering his wife Nayanaben and their two children, Prutha and Bhavya. The bodies were discovered buried in a pit just 20 feet from their residence in the Forest Colony.
The tragic incident occurred after the family went missing on November 5, 2025. Initial reports filed by Khambhala himself did not raise suspicion. However, after ten days, authorities unearthed the grim evidence, revealing that the ACF had smothered his wife and children due to ongoing domestic disputes.
In response to the heinous crime, the Surat Rabari community organized a candlelight march to honor the victims and demand the death penalty for Khambhala. Hundreds of community members, including women and youth, participated in the march, holding candles and using mobile flashlights to pay tribute.
Investigations revealed that Khambhala had meticulously planned the murders. He killed his wife on the bed using a pillow, while the children were murdered in separate rooms. He then buried the bodies with mattresses, employing machinery to cover up the crime.
The case has shocked both Bhavnagar and Surat communities. Police continue to investigate the motive and whether any accomplices were involved. Legal proceedings against Shailesh Khambhala are underway, with authorities promising strict action.
