Sleuths from the Special Task Force (Prayagraj unit) on Friday arrested a notorious criminal, Shailendra Singh alias Bhagat, a resident of Hussainpur in Kanpur Dehat. Bhagat was wanted by Pratapgarh police and carried a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The case against him was registered at Dilippur police station under multiple sections of the BNS and Section 7 of the CLA Act.
The arrest followed an investigation into an incident on June 18, when a resident of Nauhar Hussainpur filed a complaint against a group of assailants who injured several people over a longstanding enmity. Police identified Bhagat as the key suspect involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, Manikpur police arrested three thieves, including two women, and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs along with Rs 22,000 in cash. The accused were Santkumar alias Golu (26) of Bharatkoop, Saraswati Devi (36), and Kajal (19), both residents of Kapseti. The trio allegedly committed a theft at a jeweller’s shop located near Aliganj crossing under Manikpur police jurisdiction on August 28.
