In a shocking incident in Yawal, Shaikh Rashid Shaikh Bismillah (22) has been arrested for the murder of a six-year-old boy. The child, reported missing on Friday around 5 PM, was later found dead and partially burned, according to the Yawal police.
Inspector Rangnath Dharbale confirmed that the accused was produced in court and has been remanded to eight days of police custody. The motive for the murder is still under investigation.
The boy’s family launched a search in the neighborhood before filing a missing person complaint at the Yawal Police Station on Friday night. Initially, a case of abduction against an unidentified individual was registered.
The breakthrough came on Saturday, when Superintendent of Police Ashok Nakhate revealed that Shaikh Rashid had confessed to his father, claiming he had killed the boy and hidden the body in a room on the upper floor of their house — a space rarely visited by the family.
The father immediately informed the police, and around 11:30 AM, the body was recovered. It showed signs of strangulation and partial burning. Police believe Rashid attempted to burn the body after the murder.
The horrific incident has led to public outrage, triggering protests in Yawal on Saturday. Authorities have increased security, and a deeper investigation is underway to uncover the motive and any potential accomplices.
