Shahpura Police have successfully busted a burglary gang involved in a Rs 30 lakh theft, arresting three men, including a close friend of the victim’s son, who allegedly orchestrated the crime after learning about the family’s travel plans.

The burglary took place between March 18 and 19 when Gopal Prasad Agrawal, a resident of Jai Bhavani Society, left for Omkareshwar with his family. Upon returning on March 19, they discovered their house had been ransacked, with cash and valuable gold and silver jewellery missing.

A special police team was formed, led by DCP Zone-1 Akhil Patel, to investigate the case. The team reviewed CCTV footage and utilized technical surveillance, which eventually led to the identification of two suspects: Ashutosh Srivastava, 33, a resident of Sheetal Heights Misrod, and Jitendra alias Jeetu Meena, 30, from Satlapur, Mandideep.

During interrogation, both suspects confessed to the crime, revealing they had stolen Rs 8 lakh in cash and 300 grams of gold and silver jewellery. Ashutosh, who runs a travel agency in Indore, had learned of the family’s travel plans from his friend Piyush, the victim’s son, and seized the opportunity to carry out the theft.

The investigation continues as authorities work to recover the stolen items and determine the full extent of the gang’s operations.
