In a remarkable recovery effort, Shahada police have successfully reclaimed 17 tolas of gold jewellery, valued at Rs7.2 lakh, stolen during a wedding ceremony in Balaji Lance, Nandurbar district, Maharashtra. The theft occurred when Rohan Mohan Singh Rajput, a teacher from Shindkheda, attended the marriage with his family. While his sisters were taking pictures at the event, an unknown thief stole the gold jewellery and two mobile phones from Rajput’s purse, which was left unattended on a chair.
Upon receiving the complaint, Inspector Rajan More of the Shahada police station led the investigation, with Nandurbar SP Shravan Dutt instructing his team to take swift action. Following the initial inquiry, police suspected the involvement of the Sansi gang from Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. A special team was dispatched to Rajgarh, where they spent a week searching for the suspects: Ritesh Prabhat, Babu Vikram Kadiyan, and Juhi Balkishan Kadiyan. Despite extensive efforts, the suspects were not immediately located.
The breakthrough came when police interrogated the mother of one of the suspects, Savitri Bai. This led to the recovery of the stolen gold jewellery. The successful operation was commended by the local community and garnered praise for the efforts of the Shahada police team, under the leadership of SP Dutt, ASP Ashit Kamble, and Inspector Rajan More.
