Sewri Gold Theft: 4 Arrested in Mumbai Heist

Armed gang steals 400g gold; police nab culprits

The Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg Police have cracked a major gold theft at a manufacturing unit in Sewri, arresting four individuals and recovering key details about the robbery.

Arrested Suspects

Manish Rathod, 24

Bhagwan Paraskar, alias Mama, 60

Mangal Kashyap, 20

Rohit Sharma, 20, also a security guard at the unit

Police are still seeking Irfan Shaikh, identified as the mastermind behind the heist.

Details of the Robbery

The incident occurred at Busa Industrial Estate, Sewri, when three men posing as delivery agents entered the gold unit. Security guard Rohit Sharma was stabbed in the thigh during the attack but later helped alert nearby workers.

The gang fled with 400 grams of gold, valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh. Initially, the guard tried to mislead police by claiming he was alone, but investigations revealed he was complicit in the robbery.

Legal Action

A case has been registered under Sections 309, 331, 333 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Indian Arms Act. Rohit Sharma was admitted to KEM Hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to track the remaining suspect and are probing the planning and execution of the robbery.
