KATY, Texas (KTRK) — A maintenance technician employed at Texas Children’s Hospital in Katy was arrested last week and is now facing charges of online solicitation of a minor, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Severo Garcia, 43, was taken into custody on Friday, July 19. At the time of his arrest, Garcia was working as a maintenance technician, but the hospital confirmed he is no longer employed. They also stated that all employees undergo background checks as part of the hiring process.

In a statement provided to ABC13, the hospital emphasized, “The health and safety of every child and woman is our top priority.”

According to court records, Garcia allegedly tried to get a minor to FaceTime him while they were showering, which led to the criminal charge.

Efforts by reporters to contact Garcia at his home were unsuccessful, and his attorney said he is awaiting evidence and not ready to comment publicly.

The guardian of the victim also declined to comment, citing the sensitive nature of the case.

Authorities have not released further information about the victim or whether the incident had any connection to Garcia’s former workplace. The investigation remains ongoing.
