Police briefs are compiled from local law enforcement press releases. All suspects listed are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Paris police officers arrested a 32-year-old Clarksville woman on Wednesday after she was accused of committing theft under $2,500 with two or more previous convictions, elevating the offense to a state jail felony. The woman, identified as Lintoria Trenea Johnson, was taken into custody in the 2300 block of N. Main Street.

In addition to the new charge, Johnson was arrested on two outstanding warrants tied to separate theft cases from 2023 and 2024. Both outstanding warrants were also for theft under $2,500 with two prior convictions. Johnson was processed and transported to the Lamar County Jail.

Later the same day, officers were called to the 2100 block of S. Church Street regarding a reported assault involving family members. A 28-year-old woman reported that her boyfriend had assaulted both her and her mother. According to the victim, an argument escalated when her mother arrived to help her leave. While the pair were moving belongings from the suspect’s truck, the suspect allegedly struck the victim’s mother in the face.

When the victim attempted to intervene, the suspect reportedly assaulted them both before placing both hands around the 28-year-old’s neck and choking her. The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

Police collected evidence, interviewed the victims, and reviewed the suspect’s criminal history, which revealed two prior convictions for assault of a family member, elevating the case to a felony offense. The investigation remains ongoing.
