In a major anti-narcotics operation, Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 9 arrested two individuals, Senul Julum Sheikh (28) and Jhangir Shah Alam Sheikh (29), both residents of Govandi, for possession of MD drugs worth Rs10 crore.
The arrests were made during a late-night raid at the Summer Land Hotel in Dadar, where the accused were allegedly planning a major drug deal. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Dayanayak had booked a room at the hotel two days in advance to closely monitor the situation.
On Wednesday night, around 10:30 PM, the police, receiving confirmation from informants, swooped in and conducted a successful raid. Both suspects were caught red-handed with the contraband.
Authorities seized a massive quantity of mephedrone (MD) during the operation. The duo is now in custody, and the Crime Branch is actively working to trace the drug source and identify those linked to the broader distribution network.
Further investigation is underway, and officials believe more arrests are likely in the coming days as the probe expands.
