On Friday evening, a self-styled godman named Maharajan from Nanded district, Maharashtra, was arrested in Adilabad for misbehaving with a woman patient under the guise of sorcery.
According to DSP L Jeevan Reddy, Maharajan lured the woman into a room by asking her family members to step outside, claiming he would cure her illness through sorcery. However, he touched her inappropriately, prompting the woman to raise an alarm. Her family members rushed in and rescued her.
Abhinay Kumar, a relative of the victim, filed a complaint with the police. An FIR has been registered, and investigations are underway.
The police have cautioned the public against trusting unscientific methods and urged them not to fall prey to self-styled godmen, especially when modern medical science offers reliable treatments.
