In a significant breakthrough, Keonjhar police have arrested the second suspect involved in the alleged job scam that defrauded over Rs1 crore from job aspirants. Bhubana Mohanta, aged 29, from Kasira village, was apprehended following the arrest of his accomplice, Pramila Parida, on January 26.
Police have recovered crucial evidence, including 15 ATM cards, two mobile phones, and counterfeit job offer letters that were issued to 114 candidates. The suspects targeted individuals from Keonjhar and surrounding districts, luring them with promises of clerical and computer operator positions at the district headquarters hospital.
According to Srikant Sahu, Officer-in-Charge of the Town police station, Mohanta will be held for further questioning to uncover more suspects and assess the full extent of the financial scam. The scam came to light after complaints from 10 victims across two police stations in Keonjhar.
Keonjhar Superintendent of Police Nitin Kusalkar confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, and all individuals involved in this fraudulent scheme will be arrested.
