Long Beach man faces grand theft, vandalism charges

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Sean Paul Green, a Long Beach resident, was arrested in connection with multiple bronze plaque thefts across Orange County.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office charged Green with 10 counts of grand theft and 10 counts of felony vandalism. He pleaded not guilty and is being held on $100,000 bail. His arraignment is set for March 4.

Authorities said Green was identified after reviewing surveillance footage of plaque thefts in Old Towne Orange on Jan. 20. Orange Police Department detectives linked him to similar thefts in Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and Tustin. Green was apprehended at his home and booked into Orange County Jail on Feb. 5.

“The bronze theft problem is a growing concern in Southern California. We urge the public to report suspicious activity,” the Orange PD wrote on Facebook.

The arrests come after the passage of Assembly Bill 476, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in October 2025. The law requires junk dealers and recyclers to record information on anyone selling precious metals, expands restrictions on scrap metal possession, and increases penalties for theft of metals, including copper.
