BILLINGS — The Billings Amateur Hockey League Board of Directors has confirmed that Sean Gilmore, the program and facility director at Centennial Ice Arena, has been terminated following his arrest on suspicion of felony theft.
According to Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder, Gilmore was arrested on Oct. 11. As of Wednesday, he has not yet been formally charged in Yellowstone County District Court, according to the clerk’s office.
Board President Monica Anderson said in a letter to members that the board began an internal review after accounting irregularities were discovered earlier in the week. Their investigation uncovered what Anderson described as “poor decisions” by Gilmore, leading to his immediate firing.
“We are devastated to join a growing number of nonprofit organizations in Billings that have been taken advantage of in recent months,” Anderson wrote.
She emphasized that the organization remains committed to maintaining smooth operations, supporting Billings Bulls youth hockey, and ensuring the upcoming season proceeds as planned.
Centennial Ice Arena has recently been involved in fundraising for the new Signal Peak Energy Ice Arena at Amend Park, a project overseen by the Yellowstone Ice Foundation. Anderson noted that this situation will not affect the new arena’s progress.
When contacted by MTN News, Gilmore declined to comment.
