MARIETTA, OH — A jury in Ohio has convicted Scott Hickman, 53, for the brutal murders of Kimberly Fulton, 28, and her 17-month-old son Daniel, nearly 30 years after the crime.

The bodies were found inside a burned mobile home in Palmer Township on March 5, 1995. Investigators later revealed that the victims died before the fire, ruling out carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities believe the fire was intended to conceal the murders.

Hickman was initially arrested in 1998 but released due to insufficient evidence. The case remained cold until 2019, when detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation reopened the investigation. He was indicted in October 2021.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost praised the dedication of the law enforcement team involved.

Hickman is set to be sentenced on October 14. Meanwhile, another man, Johnny Ball, faces perjury and obstruction charges linked to the case, with his trial pending.
