HALFMOON, NY — A Schenectady man is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting incident in Halfmoon on Saturday morning.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call around 11:04 a.m. near 44 Route 146 in Halfmoon. Upon investigation, deputies arrested 25-year-old Justin P. Wagner, who now faces charges of attempted murder in the second degree, criminal use of a firearm in the first degree (both class B felonies), criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (class C felony), reckless endangerment in the first degree, criminal possession of an assault weapon in the third degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (all class D felonies).
Wagner is accused of firing an illegally possessed rifle with the intent to kill another individual, who was known to him. He is also charged with endangering the life of another person who was present at the scene.
After the shooting, Wagner fled the scene in a vehicle but was quickly apprehended by Sheriff’s deputies on Route 146 near Moe Road without further incident. He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and is currently being held at the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
The victim, who was struck by gunfire, was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
