A 42-year-old house painter from Uttar Pradesh, Sayil, was found dead with injuries at a construction site in Purasawalkam on Monday. The incident occurred at a three-storey apartment building under construction on Muthu Gramiya Street.
According to reports, bricklayer Rajesh, who arrived for work around 9 am, discovered Sayil lying on the terrace with visible injuries. Police were informed and recovered the body, which was sent to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sayil was allegedly attacked with a stick during a fight by fellow worker Ram Dayal. Police tracked Ram Dayal to Chennai Central railway station, where he was attempting to board a train. He was arrested on murder charges, produced before a magistrate, and remanded in judicial custody.
