The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Meghalaya apprehended Sayed Ali from Lum Survey, Shillong, on Thursday for possession of heroin.
Police reported that information was received around 3 PM that Sayed Ali had received a consignment of drugs from an unknown supplier and was preparing to deliver them to customers. Acting on the tip, the ANTF detained the suspect in Lum Survey.
During a search of Sayed Ali’s residence, authorities recovered two plastic soap cases and 40 vials containing a yellow or orange powder, hidden beneath the wooden planks of his bed. Preliminary tests confirmed the substance to be heroin, weighing a total of 25.45 grams.
Authorities are investigating further to trace the supply chain and identify potential recipients of the seized drugs.
