MADISON, Tenn. — A woman with a prior criminal history is back in custody following a theft and fraud case that began inside a local gym, according to court records.
Authorities say 34-year-old Savannah McCormick entered the women’s locker room at the Planet Fitness on Gallatin Pike on November 13 and stole a purse containing cash, keys, credit cards, and another woman’s driver’s license.
After leaving the gym, investigators allege McCormick crossed the street to a Cricket Wireless store, where she used one of the stolen credit cards to purchase two cellphones and accessories totaling more than $400. Court documents further state that she later went to a nearby business, Ink Gallery, and used the same credit card to pay $61 for a body piercing.
According to the arrest affidavit, McCormick was captured on surveillance video during the transactions and allegedly used her own identification while purchasing the piercing.
Records from the Tennessee Department of Correction show McCormick was convicted in 2018 on two counts of making false reports to law enforcement and served part of a one-year sentence in jail, with the remainder on probation. Her sentence expired in 2024. She was also arrested that year on a domestic violence charge involving an alleged assault on her boyfriend.
McCormick was booked into Metro Jail on January 14 and charged with theft of identity, fraudulent use of a credit card, and theft of property.
News outlets reached out to Planet Fitness and the other businesses named in the affidavit but had not received a response at the time of publication.
