Saurav and Rajeev Arrested for Snatching Rs7200 in Old Panchkula

Two accused held; police probe further criminal links and recovery

Panchkula police arrested two men, Saurav alias Fauji (21) and Rajeev (24), on May 31 for their involvement in a snatching incident near Old Panchkula on May 26. The duo was apprehended at Truck Market, village Kharak Mangoli, where they both reside.

The victims reported that the accused snatched approximately Rs7,200 from Nitish Sharma, a resident of Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, before fleeing the scene. Police investigations revealed that Rajeev is a habitual offender with five cases against him, including charges under the NDPS Act, theft, and murder. Notably, Rajeev was out on bail during this incident. Saurav, meanwhile, has no prior confirmed criminal record.

Both accused are reportedly addicted to drugs. Rajeev works as a laborer, and Saurav is employed as a hotel waiter. After their arrest, both were presented in court and sent to police remand for two days. The police are currently interrogating them to recover the stolen amount and explore their possible involvement in other criminal activities.
