Jaipur, October 15 (Udaipur Kiran): Rajasthan ATS and Special Operations Group (SOG) have arrested Saurabh Singh, a wanted accused in a major fake document scam. Singh had a Rs25,000 reward on his head for allegedly preparing and supplying forged educational certificates used in government job applications.
The investigation began after a complaint from the Senior Superintendent of the Postal Department, Ajmer Division. During verification for the GDS Online Engagement 2023 (Schedule-II), an applicant, Lokesh Yadav, was found to have submitted a forged Class 10 marksheet supposedly issued by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). However, CISCE denied issuing the document.
Following this, an FIR (No. 38/2024) was filed on May 31 under IPC Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120B. Police arrested Lokesh Yadav and his associates, Vikas Kumar Yadav and Hitesh Yadav, who revealed that the forged document was created by Saurabh Singh from Mahendragarh, Haryana. Singh ran an e-Mitra center in Rewari and allegedly sold the fake marksheet for R35,000.
Singh had been on the run for almost a year before his arrest on October 13, 2025. The ATS seized a bag containing an HP laptop, Vivo phone, hard disk, pen drive, and several forged certificates from universities and institutions.
During interrogation, Singh confessed to using graphic tools to copy logos, seals, QR codes, and signatures to make fake educational documents appear legitimate. The racket operated across Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh, mainly targeting job seekers desperate for employment.
Police have taken Singh into custody until October 17, 2025, and are now examining hundreds of forged documents found in his digital devices.
