A major cybercrime racket was busted on Tuesday night when Jodhpur Police arrested four individuals, including the mastermind Saurabh Singh Chauhan, for allegedly stealing and selling personal data of foreign nationals through Skype, Telegram, and the dark web.
Operating from a call centre under the name Micrologic Infotech in the Ratanada area, the gang reportedly sold sensitive data belonging to 10,000 citizens from the USA and Canada for as little as $10. The accused verified this stolen information using various online software tools before offering it for sale.
During the raid, police seized:
32 computers
28 laptops
8 monitors
19 pen drives
11 mobile phones
All devices were found loaded with personal data of foreign citizens. Investigations suggest the gang specifically targeted elderly American citizens, and the proceeds were converted to cryptocurrency.
Police initiated action based on reports of suspicious activity at the call centre. Surveillance confirmed illegal activity, after which a special team raided the office on Circuit House Road.
“Evidence indicates the group was stealing, verifying, and selling sensitive data on the dark web,” a senior officer stated. Further investigations are ongoing, and police are looking into possible international links.
