In a well-planned operation, Palghar police arrested two men and seized over 10 kg of ganja worth more than Rs2 lakh from a vehicle intercepted near Yeshwantnagar village on the Vikramgad-Jawhar road.
The accused have been identified as:
Satish Wagh (52)
Sagar Balsane (29)
Both are residents of Kumbharwada, Nashik, and were traveling in a car that was intercepted on June 13 based on a tip-off received by the police.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, the police discovered 10.258 kg of ganja, which was carefully concealed. The market value of the contraband is estimated at Rs2,05,160, according to a police release.
The vehicle has been impounded, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities are currently investigating the origin of the seized cannabis and working to identify the intended recipients of the consignment.
