Satish, Satendra Arrested After Police Encounter in Azamgarh

Wanted robbery accused injured in Mehnajpur police action

Two notorious criminals were injured and taken into custody following a police encounter at Tiyara Mod in the Mehnajpur police station area of Azamgarh district on Thursday night, officials confirmed.

The arrested accused have been identified as Satish, a resident of Chiuhtar village in Azamgarh, and Satendra Yadav, from Auhadpur village in Jaunpur district. Both were wanted in connection with two major robbery cases reported in the area over the past two months.

According to the police, the operation was carried out under the leadership of CO Lalganj Bhupesh. A joint team comprising SWAT, SOG, Mehnajpur police station, and personnel from nearby stations had been actively investigating the robbery cases since September 2. Authorities were closely monitoring CCTV footage and conducting continuous raids to track down the suspects.

Late Thursday night, during routine patrolling, the police spotted the duo near Tiyara Mod. On noticing the police presence, the accused attempted to flee and opened fire while being chased. The police retaliated in self-defense, resulting in injuries to both criminals.

The injured accused were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Police officials stated that further investigation into the robbery cases is ongoing.
