The Bandepalya police in Bengaluru have arrested two daily wage workers from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly bludgeoning a fellow labourer to death over a dispute linked to an alleged illicit affair.
The arrested men have been identified as Satish Yadav and Arun Yadav, both working as wall painters. The prime accused, Birendra Yadav, is still absconding, and police have launched a manhunt to trace him.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when Shailesh Yadav, a 30-year-old labourer and native of Gorakhpur, U.P., was allegedly attacked and killed by the accused. According to police, all individuals involved, including the victim, were migrant workers living in Bengaluru and working on construction and painting sites.
The conflict reportedly escalated when Shailesh began bragging about an alleged affair with Birendra Yadav’s sister-in-law. The provocative remarks led to growing tension, which culminated in the fatal assault.
Shailesh was bludgeoned to death with blunt objects, and the accused fled the scene. Based on eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigation, police quickly arrested Satish and Arun, while Birendra remains on the run.
The arrested individuals have been booked for murder under Section 302 of the IPC, and further investigation is underway.
