STAFFORD, Conn. (WGGB/WSHM) – An Enfield woman has been charged with felony larceny after police say she stole jewelry from an elderly woman’s home in Stafford.
Authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Sara Gintick, who was hired to clean the home of an 82-year-old woman reportedly suffering from illness. During her time working in the house, investigators say Gintick allegedly took several pieces of jewelry belonging to the victim.
Police said the theft came to light after an unrelated traffic stop led to Gintick’s arrest on an active warrant Monday morning. She has been charged with third-degree larceny, a felony offense under Connecticut law.
Gintick was released after posting a $15,000 cash bond and is expected to appear in court at the end of this month.
Authorities have not disclosed the value of the stolen jewelry, but they continue to urge residents to remain cautious when hiring individuals for in-home services, especially when caring for vulnerable or elderly clients.
