LAREDO, Texas — A Laredo woman has been arrested following a child abuse investigation that began nearly a year ago after concerns were raised by school staff.
According to police, officers were called to an elementary school in March after staff noticed a young boy with bruising on his face and neck. Investigators later identified the child’s mother as 25-year-old Sara Estrella Garcia.
Police said Garcia was located and questioned during the investigation, during which she admitted to disciplining the child for misbehavior. An arrest warrant was later approved, and Garcia was taken into custody on Jan. 9.
Garcia is charged with injury to a child. The case remains under review by authorities.
