HAZLETON, PA — A Shenandoah man is behind bars after police say he was actively selling cocaine in the city of Hazleton.
Sanyel Calzado Berroa, 22, was arrested on August 28 by Hazleton’s Special Response Team, following the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Peace Street.
The arrest came after a three-month investigation led by the Hazleton Police Narcotics Unit and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force. According to authorities, Calzado Berroa had conducted multiple cocaine sales to undercover detectives during controlled drug buys.
During the search, investigators seized several pounds of marijuana along with additional quantities of cocaine, police reported.
Calzado Berroa was charged with five felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility.
He was arraigned and remanded to Luzerne County Prison, with bail set at $30,000, which he was unable to post.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for this morning at Luzerne County Central Court.
