In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Ganjam police on Wednesday arrested a father-son duo for allegedly peddling ganja near J Chachina village. The operation led to the seizure of 82 kilograms of ganja and a car used to transport the contraband.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Santosh Pandi (50)
Chitrasen Pandi (24)
According to Subash Chandra Behera, Inspector-in-Charge of Kodala police station, the arrests were made during a routine patrol under Operation Prahaar, an initiative aimed at curbing the illegal transportation of narcotics in the region.
The police team stopped a suspicious vehicle, which upon inspection, was found to be carrying the ganja. The seized substance is estimated to be worth around Rs9 lakh in the illegal market.
Both accused have been taken into custody and will face legal proceedings under the NDPS Act.
