In a swift operation, Karnataka Police arrested four suspects within 12 hours in connection with a house burglary reported in Manipal and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs4.47 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Santosh (20) from Vijayapura, Chirantan (21) from Badanidiyur, and two juveniles who are in conflict with the law.

According to police, the theft took place at the residence of Sangeeta Madival, who lives in Shanthinagar in Badagabettu. On the morning of March 12, she had locked her house and left to visit her mother’s residence.

When she returned later in the afternoon, she discovered that unknown individuals had removed roof tiles to gain entry into the house. The suspects allegedly broke into a cupboard and stole gold and silver ornaments along with cash.

After receiving the complaint at the Manipal Police Station, officers formed a special investigation team to track down the culprits.

On March 13, the police noticed a group of youths behaving suspiciously near Shimbra Bridge. They were detained for questioning, which led to the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments.

Police confirmed that the valuables worth Rs4.47 lakh have been seized and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
