BOSTON, MA — A Dominican national who had been deported from the United States three times has now been convicted of illegal reentry, federal officials confirmed.
Santo Beato Aybar-Aybar, 49, pleaded guilty on June 16 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Aybar-Aybar was arrested in Lawrence, Massachusetts, by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers after it was determined he had reentered the U.S. without inspection, admission, or parole from immigration officials.
Aybar-Aybar had previously been removed from the United States on three separate occasions, most recently on September 21, 2021.
“Santo Beato Aybar-Aybar repeatedly displayed a blatant disregard for U.S. immigration laws, and that resulted in his conviction for illegally reentering the country after deportation,” said ICE ERO Boston Acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde.
Aybar-Aybar now faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. His sentencing is scheduled for September 11. Upon completing any prison term, he will also be subject to deportation once again.
ICE Boston emphasized its continued commitment to pursuing individuals who violate federal immigration laws, particularly those with a record of repeated deportations.
