In two separate incidents, Kerala Police arrested three individuals for involvement in illegal drug possession and trafficking, seizing controlled substances including mephentermine sulphate and cannabis.

In Ettumanoor, police arrested Santhosh Mohan (32), a native of Alappuzha, after a raid led to the seizure of 400 ampoules of mephentermine sulphate, a cardiac stimulant that requires a medical prescription. The raid earlier this week uncovered 230 bottles of the prescription drug, each containing 30mg, which Mohan had reportedly ordered via courier.

“Possession of even a single ampoule requires a prescription,” said a senior officer at Ettumanoor Police Station. Investigations revealed that students and other individuals had been sourcing the drug through Mohan. The case has since been transferred to the Drugs Control Department, with a detailed report submitted on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in Angamaly, police arrested Rinku Digal (25) and Shalini Bhaliar Singh (22), both from Kandhamal, Odisha, for smuggling 9.5 kilograms of cannabis. Acting on a tip-off, police tracked the duo to a lodge, where they were arrested. The bust was executed under the direction of Ernakulam District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena.

Both incidents underscore the intensified crackdown on drug trafficking in the state, with authorities reiterating their commitment to strict enforcement.
