A 25-year-old man, Sanjith Roy, has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Sushant Roy, a migrant worker from West Bengal, at a construction site in Kerala. The site, located in the state, is for the new office building of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday during a drunken altercation among laborers working on the project. The accused, Sanjith Roy, is said to be a relative of the victim, Sushant Roy.
The situation escalated during the brawl, which led to the alleged fatal assault. Police intervened and launched an investigation, leading to Sanjith’s arrest on Wednesday. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances behind the confrontation and whether others were involved.
