In a major breakthrough, the Khanna Cyber Crime Police have arrested 22 individuals involved in a large-scale online fraud operation, recovering Rs14.34 lakh in connection with multiple cases.

The scam first came to light in February 2025, when Sanjeev Pandhi, a resident of Machhiwara, was duped of Rs3.72 crore by fraudsters operating a fake online trading platform. The culprits contacted him through the Telegram app, convincing him to invest.

Among those arrested are Neeraj Singhania from Dubai, his wife Sarita Singhania alias Ritu, and several others including Gurjot Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, Baldev Krishan from Zirakpur, and Parvinder Singh alias Tony from Chandigarh. The police also apprehended suspects from Mohali, Ludhiana, and Moga. A total of Rs9.35 lakh was recovered in this case alone.

In a separate incident, Mahendra Pratap Singh Gill, also from Machhiwara, was conned out of Rs2.65 crore. The caller pretended to be a law enforcement officer investigating his bank account. Arrests in this case include Karnamjit Singh and Gurveer Singh from Mohali, Kuljit Singh and Mohan Singh from Jalandhar, and others. An additional Rs5 lakh has been recovered so far, and key suspects Kuljit and Mohan Singh are under further investigation.

As part of the crackdown, police seized 100 mobile phones tied to theft and fraud. SSP Jyoti Yadav stated that authorities are committed to ensuring victims recover their funds. “Those who steal people’s hard-earned money will not be spared. We are actively investigating the bank accounts used in these scams,” she assured.
