Kukshi police on Friday arrested 55-year-old Sanjay Sharma, who had been absconding for a year in connection with a cooperative society fraud.
Police station in-charge Rajesh Yadav told TOI that the case was based on a complaint filed by 38-year-old Lokesh Patidar, a resident of Nisarpur village. Patidar alleged that he was duped by Sanjay Sharma, Virendra Sharma, and Sanjay Bhavsar, all residents of Susari, who posed as officials from Padmavati Sakh Sahkari Sanstha Maryadit, Kukshi.
A case was registered on August 22, 2024, under Sections 318(4), 316(5), 338, 336(3), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Earlier in the investigation, police arrested Sanjay Bhavsar, while the other two accused, Sanjay Sharma and Virendra Sharma, had remained on the run. The arrest of Sanjay Sharma on Friday marks a significant development, while police have now announced a reward for information on absconding accused Virendra Sharma.
Following his arrest, Sanjay Sharma was produced in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
