Patna, Bihar: Two individuals have been arrested in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the Chief Minister’s Rural Drinking Water Nishchay Yojana, amounting to Rs5 lakh in Anandpur Panchayat, Bihta block, Patna district.
The arrests follow a formal complaint lodged on March 14, 2024, by Panchayat Secretary Deepak Kumar, who accused Sanjay Kumar, husband of the current Mukhiya, and Shambhu Kumar, a ward member, along with ward secretary Amarnath Singh, of misusing government funds during project implementation.
Following the investigation, Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that financial fraud had occurred. “Sanjay Kumar and Shambhu Kumar have been arrested and sent to jail,” he stated. Further investigation is ongoing to identify additional individuals who may be involved.
This incident highlights the continuing challenges in ensuring transparency and accountability in grassroots-level governance and implementation of rural development schemes.
