A 26-year-old man, Sanjay Kashyap, was arrested in Delhi by the Banthra police and the South zone surveillance team in connection with the murder of Lucknow resident Siddi Prasad. Sanjay had been absconding for over a month following the crime.
According to DCP South Nipun Agarwal, the victim, Siddi Prasad (40), was found dead in a dry pit behind his home in Dariyapur village on May 24. The investigation revealed a shocking conspiracy involving the victim’s wife, Manju Devi, her paramour Akash Verma alias Lucky, and Sanjay Kashyap, a native of Gonda.
The trio allegedly planned the murder due to Manju’s extramarital affair with Akash. To carry out the crime, Akash promised Sanjay Rs40,000, with Rs5,000 paid upfront. On the night of the murder, they reportedly strangled Siddi with a plastic rope and struck him with an iron pipe. The body was hidden in a pit, and the weapons were dumped near a drain.
The Banthra police launched a manhunt immediately after the crime. The arrest of Sanjay marks a significant breakthrough, and further investigation is ongoing to prepare the chargesheet.
