by Ananya Mehta

Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Himachal Pradesh Police have arrested a key interstate peddler allegedly involved in supplying chitta (heroin) through a backward-linked network extending to Chandigarh.

The accused, identified as Sanjay alias Ganji, is a resident of Mauli Jagran Complex in Chandigarh and is believed to be a major supplier in the network.

According to Gaurav Singh, the breakthrough came after police arrested three individuals on March 12 in Rampur. The arrested accused were Rahul Larju from Bonda village, Shubhan Khanna from Dheu village in Sarahan, and Vikas Minj from Sundargarh district in Odisha.

Police had recovered 12.36 grams of chitta from their possession and registered a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

During interrogation, investigators worked to trace the supply chain by following backward links, which led them to identify Sanjay as the primary source behind the distribution network.

Acting on this information, a police team was sent to Chandigarh, where Sanjay was apprehended.

Police officials said further investigations are underway to uncover other individuals connected to the drug network and to dismantle the entire supply chain.

SSP Gaurav Singh also urged citizens to assist law enforcement by sharing any information related to drug trafficking, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
