In a case straight out of a crime thriller, Nanjangud police arrested four people — including a woman, her brother, and a minor — for plotting to murder her husband and disguising it as a robbery. The conspiracy was exposed through CCTV footage and forensic evidence, revealing a shocking tale of betrayal and domestic discord.
The accused, identified as Sangeetha, a computer operator, conspired with her brother Sanjay, his friend Vignesh, and a minor accomplice to kill her husband Rajendra, who runs a fibre door fitting business. Police said the couple had been facing marital disputes for months, leading Sangeetha to plan the attack.
On October 25, while Rajendra was riding his scooter with Sangeetha as a pillion, a white car intercepted them near MUDA Layout in Hunduvinahalli, Nanjangud. A man emerged from the car and pushed the scooter, causing both to fall. Two others pretended to snatch Sangeetha’s gold chain while one of them stabbed Rajendra in the abdomen before escaping.
Rajendra, severely injured, was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru. Initially thought to be a robbery, the case took a dark turn when Rajendra recounted the incident to police. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, investigators found links between the attackers and Sangeetha herself.
A special investigation team led by SP Vishnuvardhan, along with Additional SPs Mallik and Nagesh and DySP Raghu, uncovered the murder conspiracy. Under interrogation, Sangeetha confessed to orchestrating the attack with her brother Sanjay, who had rented the getaway car.
The accused had planned to murder Rajendra and make it appear as a street robbery. Their plan, however, fell apart when a passerby vehicle appeared, forcing them to flee before completing the act.
All four accused — Sangeetha, Sanjay, Vignesh, and the juvenile accomplice — have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. SP Vishnuvardhan confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine further motives and involvement.
Rajendra remains under treatment at a Mysuru hospital. The shocking betrayal has stunned the local community, with police calling it “a cold-blooded act born out of domestic discord.”
