In a shocking turn of events, the wife and son of a missing property dealer, Harveer Singh Malik, have been arrested for his murder, nearly 40 days after his disappearance.
Malik, a resident of Terra Society, Sector 75, Greater Faridabad, was last seen on July 11. His body was finally recovered after an intense investigation led police to a deserted area near Sidhdata Ashram, where it had been dumped in a sack.
According to police, Harveer’s wife, Sangeeta, and son, Sahil, had frequent disputes with him over financial issues. A major fight erupted after they reportedly spent ₹7 lakh that Harveer had kept at home. The dispute escalated into a murder plot, allegedly planned by Sangeeta, Sahil, and her sister Jyoti.
As per the FIR filed by Harveer’s brother Kulveer, the trio entered Harveer’s room through a window on the night of July 11 and killed him by striking him with a heavy object while he was asleep. They then disposed of his body and fabricated a story that he had gone abroad.
Sangeeta continued to mislead the family with WhatsApp messages from Harveer’s phone, claiming he had left the city due to a “big mistake.” Suspicious of the narrative, Kulveer approached the BPTP Police Station, triggering an investigation.
Police tracked down Sangeeta and Sahil, who were initially untraceable. After their arrest, they confessed to the crime, leading authorities to the body. The role of Sangeeta’s sister, Jyoti, is under further investigation.
Inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of BPTP police station, confirmed the recovery of the body and the arrest of the accused. “We are thoroughly investigating all angles of this case,” he said.
