SANFORD, Maine — John Leroy Gray, 44, of Sanford, was arrested on January 21, 2025, on charges of aggravated trafficking in fentanyl following a high-risk search warrant execution at a residence on York Street. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and Sanford Police Department, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, seized significant quantities of fentanyl and suspected drug proceeds during the operation.
The investigation, prompted by citizen complaints and tips, began a month earlier. Surveillance and undercover operations confirmed illegal drug trafficking at the residence, which also involved possible firearms possession. On the morning of January 21, 2025, the Southern Maine Special Response Team tactically secured the home to ensure safety before executing the search warrant.
