In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Punjab Police recovered 50 kilograms of heroin on Saturday after dismantling a trans-border drug trafficking module, officials said.
The accused, Sandeep Singh alias Seepa, a resident of Kapurthala district, was arrested in connection with the seizure. Police sources revealed that Sandeep had previously faced five drug-related cases
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav described the recovery as a “big win in the war on drugs,” noting that the heroin consignment had been sent by Pakistan-based smugglers with ISI support.
The operation was carried out through intelligence-led action by the ANTF, and further investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the trafficking network.
