Kurali, Punjab – In a swift and shocking revelation, Kurali police solved the brutal murder of a woman within 48 hours of discovering her body. The accused turned out to be none other than her husband, Sandeep Singh, who initially misled investigators by staging the crime as a robbery.

The victim, Gomti, was found dead on September 27, 2025, in a fruit orchard near Padiala village. At first, police suspected a case of theft gone wrong, as some of her jewellery was missing.

However, after sustained interrogation and inconsistencies in Sandeep’s statements, he broke down and confessed to the murder. He admitted to killing Gomti following ongoing marital disputes and stated he acted in a fit of rage. According to his confession, he used a wooden stick to fatally attack her during one of their arguments.

To deflect suspicion, Sandeep hid her gold and silver ornaments to make it look like a robbery. Police later recovered both the stolen jewellery and the murder weapon from his possession.

An FIR was initially registered under Sections 103, 305, 331(8), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sandeep’s plan to mislead the police fell apart under the scrutiny of the Special Investigation Team, which uncovered the truth behind Gomti’s tragic death by the next day, September 28.

Authorities have highlighted this case as a disturbing example of domestic violence escalating into murder, and commend the investigative team for solving it swiftly and efficiently.
