Acting on the directions of Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Nitish Aggarwal, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-I cracked the case related to the armed robbery of a trader’s vehicle. The arrested accused were identified as Sandeep, Suraj alias Sonu and Ashok Kumar, residents of Shimli village, and Sachin and Pradeep Kumar, residents of Madina village in Rohtak district.

The accused were produced before a competent court. As per court orders, Sandeep, Suraj alias Sonu and Ashok Kumar were sent to judicial custody, while Sachin and Pradeep Kumar were remanded to three days’ police custody for further interrogation.

According to the police spokesperson, the incident took place on December 24, 2025. The complainant, Sagar Shah, a Rohtak-based jeweller, stated that his driver and another employee had travelled to Shahabad in his car for work. While returning via NH-152D, the vehicle was intercepted near Talheri village by two cars carrying unidentified youths.

Police said that when the driver stepped out, the accused pointed a pistol at him, assaulted him, looted cash and valuables kept inside the car, snatched his mobile phone and threw it away. The assailants then forcibly took the car keys and fled with the trader’s vehicle.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Ismailabad police station and the investigation was handed over to CIA-I. Under the supervision of CIA-I in-charge Inspector Surender Kumar, a special police team carried out sustained technical surveillance and field investigation, leading to the arrest of all five accused.

During the operation, police recovered Rs 63.96 lakh in cash, the robbed car, an additional vehicle used in the crime and the illegal weapons used in the robbery.

Kurukshetra Police said further investigation is underway to determine the involvement of the accused in other criminal activities and to recover any remaining proceeds linked to the case.
