The Bhopal crime branch arrested Sanabbar Ansari, a close aide of alleged drug smuggler DJ Yaseen Ahmed (Machhli), from Rajgarh, seizing MD drugs worth Rs85,000, police said on Monday.
Sanabbar became an active distributor in Yaseen’s drug network after Yaseen’s arrest on July 22 and had been absconding since. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act. During interrogation, he revealed vital clues, prompting police teams to trace other members of the syndicate.
The arrest followed a tip-off about a suspicious golden-colored car parked on Taraganj Road in Sarangpur, Rajgarh. Police quickly cordoned off the area and detained Sanabbar, who admitted he had come to deliver the consignment.
Investigations revealed that Sanabbar played a key role in distributing drugs to suppliers in Bhopal. Despite Yaseen’s arrest, he evaded authorities by frequently changing locations. Multiple cases are registered against him, and his brother Shakir Ansari was recently arrested for similar offences, highlighting the duo’s long-term involvement in drug trafficking.
The crime branch confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying and apprehending remaining members of Yaseen’s network.
