SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KSAT 12) — San Antonio Police Officer Holvin Perez Ortiz, 28, was arrested on Christmas Eve, 2024, on a family violence charge, according to a news release from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) notified SAPD on Tuesday that Perez Ortiz had been taken into custody after an off-duty altercation at a home on Anchor Way. According to a preliminary incident report, deputies responded to a disturbance call around 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Upon arrival, BCSO deputies spoke with Perez Ortiz and a family member, discovering that an argument over household matters had escalated. Authorities say Perez Ortiz became upset and grabbed the family member by the throat, pushing them to the ground. The victim sustained injuries to their head during the fall.
Perez Ortiz, who has been with SAPD for five years and works in the Bike Patrol Unit, was arrested and transported to the Bexar County Jail. He was released on bond the following day.
The incident has raised concerns regarding family violence, and the SAPD has not yet disclosed further details about any internal investigation related to the arrest.
