In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Hanumangarh police on Monday arrested an alleged drug smuggler and seized 307.6 grams of mephedrone (MD), valued at approximately Rs1.5 crore.

According to SP Hari Shankar, the arrest was made by a team from Sangaria police station following credible intelligence. The team, patrolling near Ratanpura on Bharatmala road, intercepted a suspicious individual and conducted a search.

The suspect, identified as Samundra Singh (24), a resident of Tumdia village in Chittorgarh district, was found in possession of the synthetic drug MD. Police confirmed that Singh has multiple previous cases under the NDPS Act.

Authorities believe Singh is part of a larger drug distribution network operating across multiple cities. A senior officer stated, “He was not only carrying a significant quantity but was also traveling frequently, indicating wider connections.”

Singh’s interrogation is ongoing to identify his suppliers and any links to drug syndicates. He will be presented before the court for police remand.

In July 2025, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a secret laboratory in Sriganganagar involved in MD production worth Rs15 crore. Authorities believe Singh’s arrest may be connected to broader investigations.
